New Year’s Resolution
My New Year’s Resolution was to start and maintain a sketchbook, prompted by the gift of a new Moleskine Watercolour Journal. I must admit I was dubious about the paper in this as, at 200g, it’s not as heavy as my usual Arches but the commitment has been made and I really like it. As far as possible it will provide a record of my favourite places in the UK.
So far, the process has been very enjoyable as, unlike my usual work for sale, these sketches are just for me. Nobody will see them and nobody can buy them which, in itself, is quite liberating. Some, like the sketch of Kynance Cove, have provided reference for larger paintings, but they mostly to be hidden away in my ‘Little Black Book’ forever.
